Cornelius, Haps, Sylus, and Karras began the session camping at Kressle’s old outpost at the end of the Thorn River. A group of bandits crashed into the camp early in the twilight hours of them morning in pursuit of one of their own. The party dispatched them quickly and learned that the bandit who was being chased was a gunslinger named Jemzy. Jemzy was given the same ultimatum that all bandits receive: sword, rope, or help the party. Jemzy acquiesced reluctantly and joined Restov’s cause, and the party trekked back to Oleg’s Trading Post.
Meanwhile, Tyrion, Svetlana, and Kesten had discovered Kressle’s corpse behind the stable’s, having been partially devoured and drained of her blood by the still loose giant tick. When the rest of the party returned from Kressle’s camp, they were introduced to Tyrion, and the party went back out to explore the Thorn River. After the first day, the group discovered the fangberry patch, which was infested with spiders. They were dispatched with fire and a shotgun blast and the fangberries for Bokken were gathered. After two more days of uneventful exploration, the group arrived at the Staglord’s fort. Tyrion and Jemzy, disguised as bandits, infiltrated the fort and made contact with Akiros, who they swayed to the party’s cause. The party regrouped and continued exploring north.
Several bandits were discovered on the way back to Oleg’s, and one, Mary, was captured. She was a fledgling bandit who had only just begun the trade, and she decided to prove her worth to the party rather than face death. When the trapdoor spiders were discovered just south of Oleg’s, she took Cornelius’ dagger to help fight the beasts. By some miracle she survived the spider’s surprise attack and poisonous bite, thus proving herself. The fangberries were delivered to Bokken, who agreed to craft several poisons for the party to help with the assault on the Staglord’s fort.
Upon arriving at Oleg’s Trading Post, Oleg gifted Cornelius with a new suit of spiked full-plate armor. Kesten awarded the party with gold from Restov for its efforts against the bandits and exploration of the Greenbelt, and it was revealed that he had been demoted for his transgressions and had been replaced by Kenneth.
